India heading towards an EV revolution

Every day is evidence of how, though are wants are plenty; resources are scarce. We have to take steps today to improve our tomorrow.

Toxic air, can’t breathe properly, very poor zone in the Air Quality Index

…these are words that have become part and parcel of the lives of every Delhiite. We are slowly realizing that consumption that resonates with the environment is ideal. Every day is evidence of how, though are wants are plenty; resources are scarce. Fossil fuels have been extensively consumed, and the time we run out isn’t too far away.

Thus, it is only encouraging to see how EVs are the talk of the town over ICE vehicles. People know that infrastructure-wise, we as a country aren’t as equipped for an overwhelming EV revolution. While in some places, charging grids are missing, in others, battery packs and their potential to catch on fire are a scary property.

Electrical Vehicle Industry - An Indian Perspective

According to the CEEF(Center of Energy Finance) the EV market will be a US$206 billion opportunity by 2030 in India! Here are some other interesting findings:

  • US$180 billion of this money would go to vehicle production and charging infrastructure

  • This translates to a CAGR of 36 percent till 2026

  • 10 million direct and 50 million indirect jobs will be created

According to the NITI Aayog, the government offers several schemes to entrepreneurs looking to make it big in renewable. This includes supply-demand sources, access to research facilities of premier institutes like IIT, purchasing incentives, tax exemptions and technological capabilities amongst other things.

The future truly does look green.

Ather Energy and Vehicle Exchange

“Swap your old petrol scooter with a brand new electric scooter at just Rs. 2975 per month! If this is not enough, with 5% upfront payment, minimal repairs, and green technology, this ride is a steal!”

This is what dealerships like Ather, Bounce Infinity and Credo are selling to customers in Bangalore and Chennai. The only catch is the waiting period, lasting 4-6 months due to high demand. High time you got an e-scooter too!
