Is India Ready to Embrace Bharat? 🇮🇳

Exploring the 'India' to 'Bharat' Transition: Perspectives and Possibilities!

We've been away for a bit, and guess what? We missed you! 🥹 During our absence, we've been diligently keeping an eye on the news, and it's become clear to us that the current news platforms aren't quite hitting the mark, especially when it comes to connecting with Gen-Z. The content feels scattered, unexciting, and excessively long, failing to strike a chord with the current generation.

Starting now, we're thrilled to announce that we'll be sending you two newsletters every week – one on Tuesday and another on Thursday, each highlighting intriguing developments right here in our beloved nation, India (or perhaps should we say, Bharat?). The buzz is that the upcoming Parliamentary session, scheduled from September 18th to 22nd, might just make India, 'Bharat' the official name. So, what could be a more fitting theme to kickstart this newsletter?

The news of the potential renaming has divided our nation down the middle. On one side, we see the Congress, the I.N.D.I.A alliance, and even Kejriwal views it as nothing more than another political maneuver aimed at securing votes in the upcoming elections. On the other hand, the Modi government staunchly defends it as an essential move, arguing that 'India' (a name bestowed upon us by the British) should no longer bear the shadow of colonial suppression.

What’s in a name?

Our OG Sadhguru claims that each word carries unique vibes in our minds. 🤔

History shows transformations: Amitabh Bachchan, once Inquilab Srivastava, and Rajnikanth, originally Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. Companies like Subway (once Pete's Super Submarines) and Nike (formerly Blue Ribbon Sports) rebranded. Even nations transformed, like Turkey to Turkiye and Holland to the Netherlands. Change is in our DNA, from people to businesses to countries.

Consider this: the proposed renaming of our beloved nation to Bharat might not just be a simple transition but a journey involving approximately Rs 14,000 Cr 💸, encompassing marketing and legal costs. Interestingly, our neighbours in Pakistan 🇵🇰 are also contemplating a name change(to India), aiming to embrace the Indo-region identity. It's a reminder of how complex the historical backdrop is, especially considering that British colonialists once referred to the entire subcontinent as "India," even though they didn't coin the name!
